Ashgabat Marks 102nd Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Turkmenistan hosted a formal reception on Wednesday to celebrate Republic Day.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, along with representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations.

Speaking at the reception, Geldimyradov highlighted the active development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye in trade, economy, industry, energy, infrastructure, engineering, transport, agriculture, and investment. He noted that special attention is being given to the development of the logistics sector and that Turkish companies have made significant contributions to Turkmenistan’s economic growth since the country’s independence, implementing major projects, particularly in agriculture and transport.

Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, congratulated the citizens of Turkey, Turkish Cypriots, and Turks living abroad on the 102nd anniversary of the Republic. He emphasized the importance of the country’s historical heritage and recalled the achievements of the Republic’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

He provided an update on reconstruction efforts following the February 6, 2023, earthquake, noting that safe housing is being provided to affected residents, with keys to 453,000 homes scheduled to be handed over to new owners by the end of the year.

Republic Day in Türkiye, observed on October 29, is one of the nation’s most important holidays. The day marks the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923 and the proclamation of its first president, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
