Azerbaijan gifts Dostluk oil tanker to Turkmenistan

During a state visit by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Azerbaijan, a ceremony was held in Baku on Monday to present the “Dostluk” oil tanker in the presence of the heads of state of the two countries and members of official delegations, according to Turkmenistan newspaper.

A ceremony presenting the Dostluk oil tanker, attended by the heads of state of the two countries and members of official delegations was held during a state visit by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan.

After the conclusion of Turkmen-Azerbaijani talks, the ceremony was held via videoconference at the “Zagulba” Palace with the participation of the Presidents and official delegations of both countries. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev provided information about the tanker.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev then pressed a special button to launch the tanker with its deployment to sea shown via videoconference. After the video segment, Aliyev ceremonially presented the certificate for the tanker to Berdimuhamedov.

According to Azerbaijan’s Presidential press service, the “Dostluk” oil tanker was built at the Baku Shipyard and is 141 meters long, 16.9 meters wide with a draft of 4.54 meters. The tanker has a carrying capacity of 7,875 tons.
