Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed a series of bilateral documents aimed at expanding cooperation following one-on-one and expanded-format talks between President of Tyrkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Monday.
At the Zagulba Palace, Berdimuhamedov and Aliyev signed a Joint Declaration in the presence of official delegations. The signing was followed by a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding exchanged between ministries, agencies and state institutions of the two countries.
The documents cover cooperation in energy, industry, the economy, agriculture, healthcare, sports, labor and social protection, customs affairs and finance. The sides also adopted a program for industrial cooperation for 2026–2028 and a cooperation program between their foreign ministries for 2026–2029.
Among the signed documents were an Agreement on Cooperation in the Energy Sector between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an Agreement on the Main Areas for the Development and Deepening of Economic Cooperation and an Agreement on Cooperation in Food Security.
Following the expanded-format Turkmen-Azerbaijani talks, a ceremony was held via videoconference to mark the transfer of the Dostluk oil tanker, which Azerbaijan gifted to Turkmenistan.
