Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan Boosts Its International Operations

Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) Open Joint Stock Company started operating Balkan feeder vessel between Azerbaijan’s Alyat and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi international seaports.

Since the beginning of this year, within the project for the transportation of 1,400 containers from Ankara (Turkey) to Osh (Kyrgyzstan), more than 100 container cargoes have been transported on the Turkmen ship Balkan.

This project is a result of negotiations held between heads of railway authorities of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The implementation of the project is carried out by the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan OJSC.

Since the start of the Balkan ship’s operation, the feeder vessel delivered a total of more than 400 containers to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. The Balkan vessel also transported the export cargo of Turkmenistan in containers, such as sulfur, textile products, polyethylene and polypropylene.

A number of containers that will pass through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport is expected to increase 3-4 times in 2020 compared to last year.

The TULM is also among the transport agencies that launched the container train on China-Turkmenistan route. The first container train on the route arrived at Turkmenistan’s Gypjak station on May 20.
