Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan and the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center on Monday held a joint event titled "Friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the years of independence", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan.
The event gathered representatives of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, teachers and students of the country’s universities, journalists and representatives of the Turkmen diaspora in the country.
In his speech during the event, the head of the Committee Rustambek Kurbanov said the cooperation between the countries is based on the cultural community of the two states and the centuries-old traditions of good neighborliness, and congratulated the Turkmen people on the 30th anniversary of the country’s Independence.
In turn, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov emphasized that the Turkmen-Uzbek relations over the years of independence reached strategic level, and highlighted the significant contribution of the heads of the two states in enhancing bilateral cooperation between the countries.
The event also included an exhibition of folk art of Turkmenistan featuring hand-made carpets, various rugs, national jewelry, musical instruments and works of art. A demonstration of the national Turkmen cuisine was also organized at the end of the event.
