Caspian Leaders Arrive in Ashgabat For Summit

Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran arrived in Ashgabat on Wednesday to participate in the sixth Caspian Summit, according to the press services of the four countries leaders.

Upon arrival at the Ashgabat International Airport, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi were greeted by Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Heads of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran held bilateral talks with the Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh also held bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasizing the significant contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the strengthening of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, presented him the highest state award of Kazakhstan – the Order of the Golden Eagle.

Following the summit, the head of the Caspian countries are expected to adopt a communiqué on developing cooperation in the region.
