As a result of scientific work carried out in Turkmenistan, a new variety of cotton called "Ýolöten - 58" has been developed, which differs from other varieties by its high yield and fiber quality, Muhammetrahim Meredov, a researcher of the Center for Agricultural Research and Production of the Institute of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, reported in the news artiçle published in the Turkmenistan newspaper on Friday.
The variety was bred by the scientific and production center of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov from the population of "Ýolöten-42" cotton.
It has a high yield and fiber quality, with a fiber mass from one boll of about 33 grams and a yield of up to 33.2 centners per hectare. The fiber length is 39-40 millimeters, the fineness is up to 8,223 units. "Ýolöten - 58" also yields one day earlier than the standard variety.
For the cultivation of this cotton variety, it is recommended to carry out agronomic measures at a high level. This new variety of cotton can be cultivated in Mary, Akhal, and Lebap provinces. "Ýolöten-42" is now tested at the State Plant Species Laboratory in Mary and Ahal provinces. The variety was bred by the scientific and production center of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov from the population of "Ýolöten-42" cotton.
