October 13, 2023: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, hosted a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, following the results of which 16 documents were signed, the press service of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
The signed documents address the exchange of views on cooperation in the CIS, the presidency in 2024, holding a meeting of the Council of Heads of State, awarding the Commonwealth Badge of Honour, establishment of the International Organisation for the Russian Language and its support for the language as a language of interethnic communication, harmonisation of governance systems in the sphere of digital technologies, interstate relations in a multipolar world, protection of religious freedom.
The documents also consider the status of CIS Observer and Partner, the establishment of the International Centre for assessing the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing, the creation of the Coordination Council in the field of forensic activities, the Interstate Crime Control Programme for 2024-2028, the medal "For Contribution to Strengthening Peace", declaration of Samarkand as the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth in 2024.
Additionally, the CIS heads of state meeting resulted in the signing of documents related to amendments to CIS legal acts, the Protocol on amendments to the Regulations on the CIS Executive Committee, amendments to decisions made by CIS bodies, and the 2003 Decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State concerning the transfer of share contributions to the unified budget of CIS bodies.
Speaking at the CIS Council of Heads of State, the President of Turkmenistan proposed discussing debt obligations and mutual settlements.
