Russia's Agriculture Ministry has proposed to impose temporary restrictions on exports of poultry meat and eggs from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.
The proposal was made to stabilise prices and supply the domestic market with these goods, given the increased demand for them, the Izvestia International Information Centre (IIC) reported on Friday.
In light of the necessity to stabilise prices and provide the domestic market with chicken meat and chicken eggs, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed to consider the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of these goods outside the Russian Federation. In addition, it is suggested to establish a tariff concession in 2024 in the form of exemption from import customs duty on certain types of chicken meat imported into the territory of the Russian Federation in the amount of up to 160 thousand tons.
The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasised that these measures are taken in the interests of stabilising the price situation and meeting the needs of the domestic market for chicken meat and chicken eggs.
However, these restrictions will not apply to products exported to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union for humanitarian aid, within the framework of international intergovernmental agreements, international transit shipments starting and ending outside the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as products moved between parts of the country's territory through the territories of foreign states as supplies.
