The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dragon Oil Company Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer on Friday in Dubai during his official working visit to the UAE. As part of the meeting, Turkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concern and Dragon Oil signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dragon Oil, the Watan News reported on Friday.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dragon Oil conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people on behalf of the Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Mansour Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation further and explore the possibilities of advancing the energy sector and the oil and gas industry in Turkmenistan, considering the extensive experience and remarkable achievements of Dragon Oil in these areas.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of enhancing the exploration and development of hydrocarbon reserves, monitoring and optimizing oil fields and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships with leading international companies in the oil and gas industry.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has emphasized the importance of increasing the volume of oil and gas extraction, their processing and the export of Turkmen energy resources. He stated that producing and exporting finished oil, gas, and chemical products are crucial objectives for developing Turkmenistan's energy sector.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also highlighted the intention of collaborating with partners and investors from the UAE to build the necessary infrastructure for transporting Turkmen natural gas to different countries.
Dragon Oil Chairman Saeed Al Tayer expressed gratitude for the support and assured his company would fully fulfill its obligations.
Dragon Oil, headquartered in Dubai, has been involved in oil and gas cooperation with Turkmenistan based on a production-sharing agreement since 2000. Its primary focus is extracting hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea, in the Cheleken contractual area.
Dragon Oil Company opened its new office in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat on December 25 last year.
