Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Afghanistan Hoja Ovezov and Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi convened in a meeting in Kabul last Saturday. According to report from the Bakhtar news agency, the meeting included discussions on organizing an exhibition in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, poised to become a platform for showcasing Afghan products.
The forthcoming exhibition, slated to occur in the near future, is designed to provide Afghan businesses with an opportunity to display their goods and forge connections within the Turkmen market.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan emphasized the need to establish a roadmap aimed at fostering expanded trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Both parties affirmed their dedication to amplifying Afghanistan's exports to Turkmenistan and delved into strategies to enhance the trade balance between the two nations. Notably, Turkmenistan expressed a keen interest in importing Afghan marble, opening up a promising avenue for Afghanistan's marble industry.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to conduct bilateral trade meetings, facilitating direct interaction between traders from Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
The bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan reached $481 million in 2023, as reported by TOLO news.
