Representatives of the "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" (Turkmen Maritime and River Roads) Agency held a meeting with Iranian officials in the special economic zone of the Amirabad sea port in Iran on Wednesday. The discussions focused on the resumption of navigation between the Turkmenbashi and Amirabad ports and the establishment of feeder services between the two ports.
The Turkmen delegation was welcomed by representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mazandaran, as well as leaders from the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, the Economic Zone of Mazandaran, "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" Agency reported on Friday.
As reported, both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in international trade and enhancing the role of the two ports in international transport corridors.
The Iranian side announced its intention to sign "Agreement on Fraternal Sea Ports between the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port and the Amirabad Port Special Economic Zone" in the near future.
Amirabad Port is one of the largest ports in northern Iran, featuring 15 berths and numerous silos. With an annual capacity of 7.5 million tons, the port accommodates wood production, reinforcement, and other operations, attracting various clients.
