Ashyrguly Begliyev, Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas affairs, met on Tuesday in Ashgabat with Chen Huailong, the head of the branch of the world-renowned Chinese company CNPC in Turkmenistan. During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the implementation of the second phase of the development of the Galkynysh gas field.
As reported by the official Turkmen media, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Turkmenistan, Qian Naicheng, was also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial Turkmen-Chinese partnerships in various areas, including the fuel and energy sector.
The participants exchanged views on the progress of previously reached agreements in this area between Turkmenistan and China, as well as on the prospects for developing relations.
A representative of the Turkmen side noted that the oil and gas industry is the main sector of Turkmenistan's economy and plays an important role in ensuring the dynamic socio-economic development of the country.
Ashyrguly Begliyev stated that Turkmenistan is ready to offer international investors opportunities to develop the world's largest onshore gas field, Galkynysh. He made this announcement during his speech at the opening of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments in the Energy Sector of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2024) in April of this year in Paris, France.
