Representative of Turkmenistan, Senior Coordinator of the Turkmen Logistics Association Sapa Gurbanberdiyev, at the invitation of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), participated in the 15th International Capacity-Building Seminar on Trade and Transport Facilitation, held on June 11-12 in Aktau, Kazakhstan.
As reported by Turkmenistan's official media, participants of the event reviewed advanced practices in implementing port community systems in transition economies of the region. They also developed recommendations for standardizing data and document exchange, exploring the digitalization of trade and transport documents accompanying goods, and conducting specific pilot tests of digital information exchange in cooperation with TMTP, TRACECA, and other development partners.
During the seminar, discussions also focused on the use of UN/CEFACT standards in multimodal data exchange within the port communities of the Trans-Caspian corridor, particularly in ports such as Baku, Turkmenbashi, Aktau, and Kuryk.
The seminar, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in collaboration with several international and national partners, aims to enhance capacity and technical skills in target countries for implementing innovative approaches to harmonizing and digitizing data and document exchange along the corridor.
