The capacity of the eastern direction of the international transport corridor ‘North-South’ passing through Turkmenistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran is 15 million tonnes per year. This was announced by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali at the IX Caspian Media Forum held in Astrakhan.
The potential of this eastern direction of the North-South corridor is 15 million tonnes per year. The corridor passes through the territory of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In 2023, the countries started freight traffic along this route and the volume of traffic was 650 thousand tonnes. In 2024, it is planned to increase cargo turnover along this route to 2 million tonnes.
