Turkmenistan actively works to establish the production of new, important, and increasingly in-demand types of licorice root products.

A modern plant for producing glycyrrhizic acid launched in Turkmenabat, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media on Tuesday.

The plant, which can produce up to 390 tons of glycyrrhizic acid per year, opened its doors in anticipation of the professional holiday for healthcare workers and the medical industry in the country.

Licorice root, which grows along the Amyderya River, stands out as one of Turkmenistan's valuable natural resources. It finds wide application in traditional medicine, as well as in the production of confectionery and cosmetics.

The agro-industrial complex Buyan of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry collects, processes, and exports licorice, meeting demand in both domestic and foreign markets. The enterprise annually produces about 19,000 tons of raw material, which actively exports to China, Turkey, the UAE, and Serbia, highlighting its high performance.

The plant's production indicators this year significantly exceed last year's results, reflecting the dynamic development of the industry.

Licorice root, a plant from the legume family, is known for its medicinal properties. It finds uses in medicine, cosmetics, and confectionery production.
