Düýeguş farm plans to produce unique products from African ostrich leather, as reported by sales manager Anastasia Stepanisheva in an interview with the online publication Business Turkmenistan during the exhibition marking the 17th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
“Ostrich leather is the perfect material for creating high-quality products. We are developing production of bags, shoes, jackets, and bookbindings,” Stepanisheva said.
Ostrich leather is comparable to crocodile and elephant leather but surpasses them in quality due to its softer and more elastic texture. One bird yields approximately 1.5 square meters of raw material, according to her.
The company also uses ostrich feathers for cleaning small electronic parts, in perfumery, and decorative arts.
“Our goal is to produce natural, organic products that are beneficial for health,” emphasized the company representative.
Founded in 2022, the Düýeguş farm is located on 5 hectares of land in the Ak Bugday district of the Ahal velayat and currently houses 2,000 African ostriches. The farm plans to increase the number of birds to 10,000 in the near future.
In addition to leather, the company supplies eco-friendly meat products, incubates eggs, and raises young stock. All ostriches are fed natural feed without growth hormones, ensuring high-quality meat and eggs.
