Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have agreed on a plan to increase mutual trade volumes to $2 billion. The issue was discussed in Avaza during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held on August 5-6.

An agreement was also reached with the Turkmen side to sign an agreement on the operation of a border trade zone between Shavat (Khorezm region) and Dashoguz (Dashoguz province), with plans for its prompt launch, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

This initiative aims to stimulate business activity and expand trade and economic cooperation.

The trade turnover between the two countries reached $1.15 billion in 2024, and for the first half of 2025, it has approached $500 million, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.
