At the Halk Maslahaty session held on Friday in Ashgabat, Yazmyrat Atamyradov — a member of the Council of Elders and an Honorary Elder of the People — proposed suspending further increases in salaries, pensions, government allowances and student stipends. The proposal was reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
Atamyradov suggested that the funds saved through this measure should be redirected toward the continued development of the country and other national priorities.
In his remarks, the elder emphasized that, thanks to the consistent efforts of the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, together with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has steadily raised salaries, pensions, benefits, and stipends over many years. He noted that such social support measures are unmatched globally, and that every family in the country now has access to essential needs.
“Our united people live peaceful, prosperous, and happy lives. Our sons and daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attend school and go to work without worry. This peaceful and serene life is a priceless treasure and value,” Atamyradov said, adding that the population's living conditions have reached a high standard.
According to a presidential decree, the minimum monthly wage in Turkmenistan for 2025 is set at 1,410 tmt, while the minimum pension is 550 tmt.
