Specialists from the Lebapnebitgazgözleg expedition of the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation successfully drilled the Atabay-1 appraisal well at the Atabay field in Akbugday district, Ahal province. The well reached a planned depth of 1,200 meters, the Nebit-Gaz newspaper reported Tuesday.
Exploration results showed a commercially significant flow of desulfurized natural gas at a rate of 284,000 cubic meters per day from a depth of 1,134–1,136 meters. The output is considered particularly important for the further development of the field.
The well is scheduled to be transferred to the relevant production management for commissioning. It will supply consumers with clean, sulfur-free natural gas from the first appraisal well at the Atabay field.
Previously, commercial gas flow was obtained at the Hazarly field, located near the Bövrideshik gas field, under the management of Lebapgazçykaryş.
