Ashgabat and Brussels are preparing for Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit the European Union capital. Officials said Tuesday that the decision to hold the visit has been made, and the parties are continuing to coordinate dates. The briefing covered the results of Turkmenistan–EU cooperation and plans for 2026.
During the visit, the president will meet with leaders of the European Commission, European Council, and European Parliament, as well as with European commissioners. The agenda will include political dialogue, energy security, and cooperation in education and youth programs.
Consultations on the timing of the visit are ongoing. Officials plan to prepare a package of bilateral documents for signing ahead of the meetings, Myahri Byashimova said.
As part of the developing dialogue, the European Parliament plans to discuss ratification of the Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
Currently, relations between Turkmenistan and the EU are governed by a Temporary Trade Agreement. Beata Peksa said the ratification issue is expected to be discussed at an interparliamentary meeting in Brussels in early March.
