Japan’s Tohkemy Corporation is considering small- and medium-scale water desalination projects in Turkmenistan, focusing on the development of water treatment and environmental infrastructure in rural areas, sales promotion manager Mitsunori Yamazumi told Trend News Agency.
Yamazumi said water treatment, including desalination, is a key area of the company’s operations in Turkmenistan, while large-scale projects are being considered in cooperation with major Japanese corporations.
In April 2025, Tohkemy Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, providing for the exchange of specialized information and the preparation of specific proposals to develop the water treatment sector.
The company said it hopes to implement projects and supply its equipment to Turkmenistan as cooperation moves forward.
Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Osaka, Tohkemy Corporation specializes in integrated solutions for drinking, industrial and municipal water supply.
