Leading researchers from the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan began large-scale research on April 6, 2026, at the Korneli Kekelidze National Centre of Manuscripts of Georgia.

According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia, the joint work is being carried out under a memorandum of understanding on scientific cooperation previously signed between the leading research centers of the two countries.

Over the course of a month, the scientists will study and conduct a comprehensive analysis of rare Eastern manuscripts preserved in Georgia’s collections and related to the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.

The report said strengthening professional ties between orientalists of the two countries in the restoration of ancient manuscripts, their digitization and cataloging, as well as joint research on literary monuments, contributes to a deeper understanding of the shared cultural paths of the region’s peoples.

The National Centre of Manuscripts of Georgia houses a unique archive, the study of which by Turkmen specialists opens new pages in the history of Eastern literature and science.
