Farmers in Turkmenistan’s Balkan region plan to cultivate potatoes on 2,900 hectares this year and harvest 40,600 tons, official Turkmen media reported Thursday.

According to the report, farmers in the western region aim to produce 27,500 tons of onions grown on 1,100 hectares during the spring season.

Spring sowing of cabbage and carrots has also been completed within optimal agrotechnical сроки, and crop maintenance work is currently underway. In the upcoming harvest season, more than 5,750 tons of cabbage are expected to be collected from 230 hectares.

In addition, agricultural workers in the region plan to harvest over 8,460 tons of carrots from a total area of 470 hectares.
