The Garagum livestock farm in Gorogly district of Dashoguz province, part of the State Association for Livestock and Poultry Industry of Turkmenistan, has more than 26,000 sheep and goats, with about 22,000 lambs and kids born, official media reported Friday.
According to the report, coordinated breeding efforts were carried out across all flocks on the pastures of Azhyguyy, Akmolla, Murze and Damla.
Young livestock retained for further raising has been assigned to experienced shepherds, and several new flocks have been formed, each consisting of 500 lambs and kids.
In early May last year, the number of sheep and goats in Turkmenistan reached 6.4 million.
