Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met Tuesday with Eric Stewart, executive director of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit leading a delegation of U.S. companies.
According to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the activities of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council as an effective platform for strengthening business ties and expanding cooperation between government agencies and private-sector representatives of the two countries.
The participants also highlighted the outcomes of a roundtable held earlier that day in Ashgabat with representatives of the council. The event brought together delegates from about 10 U.S. companies, including Climate Compass, John Deere and Westport Trading. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized that the council’s activities contribute to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States.
The parties reaffirmed their interest in expanding cooperation in transportation and logistics, energy, oil and gas, agriculture and other sectors of the economy.
Representatives of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council also held a series of bilateral meetings at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan later the same day.
