Türkiye and Turkmenistan Sign Action Plan to Expand Economic Cooperation

Türkiye and Turkmenistan have signed the protocol of the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation (HEK) and approved a 71-point action plan aimed at expanding bilateral economic ties, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said on his account on social media platform X.

Yılmaz held meetings in both narrow and expanded formats with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev as part of the 9th session of the Türkiye–Turkmenistan intergovernmental commission.

According to the Turkish vice president, the signed protocol and action plan include concrete steps to expand cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport, education, and industry.

The sides also reaffirmed their intention to develop joint production, investment projects, and cooperation in third-country markets.

Türkiye and Turkmenistan consider economic partnership one of the key elements of bilateral relations. Earlier, both countries stated their intention to increase bilateral trade turnover to $5 billion in the coming years.

Yılmaz thanked the Turkmen side for hosting the meeting and noted the contribution of participants to the development of cooperation between the two countries.

On the same day, Yılmaz met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The sides discussed further strengthening Türkiye–Turkmenistan cooperation and prospects for expanding interaction in various sectors of the economy.
