President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov launches the country’s grain harvest during a working visit to the Gawers farmers' association, Ak Bugday district in the Ahal province, according to Watan habarlary news program.
The head of state visited the Gawers farmers’ association, where he was warmly welcomed by agricultural sector leaders and local farmers. At the request of one of the land tenants, Berdimuhamedov cut a bundle of ripe wheat, officially signaling the start of the nationwide harvest campaign.
During the visit, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyev briefed the President on measures being taken to ensure the uninterrupted progress of the harvest across the country. Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of adhering to agronomic standards and organizing harvesting operations efficiently to minimize crop losses.
Turkmen President also attended an exhibition showcasing agricultural products, including vegetables, baked goods and newly delivered farming equipment.
The President Berdimuhamedov held a personal conversation with a local tenant farmer, Dowletmuhammet Muhammetsahedov Dowletmuhammet, who shared that his family has been cultivating wheat and cotton since 2012. This year, they planted wheat on 14 hectares and cotton on 14 hectares out of a total of 28 hectares of leased land. The expected wheat yield is about 40 metric centners per hectare.
At the conclusion of the visit, Turkmenistan’s President presented the farmer with commemorative gifts, recognizing his work and the importance of the harvest campaign for the country.
