A new water flow control facility has been built and commissioned in Ashgabat to improve the capital’s domestic and drinking water supply, Turkmenistan’s state media reported on Wednesday.

The facility, built by Interbudmontazh under a contract from the Ashgabat municipality, has a water throughput capacity of 181 cubic meters per second. All operations at the facility are automated, while water flow and operating conditions are monitored through a digital system.

The project also included the construction of a dispatch center, underground reservoirs, a pumping station and an electrical substation. The dispatch center is equipped with a diesel generator and connected to the communications network of the Garagumderya association.

On the same day, Pumping Stations No. 21 and No. 22 were also openened in the Geoktepe district of Ahal province. The facilities will enable digitally managed water-saving irrigation across 6,198 hectares of farmland and are equipped with solar panels to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the irrigation equipment.
