Turkmen Ambassador Discusses Shipbuilding With Damen Shipyards

Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov met with the management of Dutch shipbuilding company Damen Shipyards to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation, including the possibility of jointly building vessels at the shipbuilding facility of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of Damen Shipyards, one of the world's leading shipbuilding companies. During the visit, the ambassador also toured the company's production facilities, where modern vessels for various purposes are under construction, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium reported on Tuesday.

One of the main topics of the talks was further cooperation in dredging operations. The sides noted that Damen Shipyards has extensive practical experience in this field and  already has positive experience of working with Turkmenistan.

Palvanov said Turkmenistan gives priority to developing its maritime infrastructure, modernizing port facilities and strengthening transport and logistics connectivity. In this context, cooperation with leading Dutch companies is viewed as an important means of attracting advanced international expertise, modern technologies and investment.

During the meeting, the ambassador expressed the Turkmen side intends to organize business events involving executives of major Dutch companies interested in the Turkmen market. Representatives of Damen Shipyards were invited to take an active part in these initiatives.

At the end of the talks, the sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing dialogue and expanding practical cooperation in shipbuilding, port infrastructure development and maritime technologies.
