Turkmenistan has completed the modernization of the Sarakhs Autoyollary customs post on the Turkmen-Iranian border as part of the phased upgrade of border customs facilities, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported on Tuesday.

The modernization project included the renovation of buildings and facilities at the post, as well as measures to increase its capacity. A digital management system was also introduced to monitor and record the movement of vehicles and goods.

According to the customs service, the new system provides more effective control over vehicles and cargo passing through the checkpoint and helps speed up customs procedures. Located at the intersection of several international transport corridors, the Sarakhs Autoyollary customs post plays an important role in the transit of vehicles and goods.

The project is part of Turkmenistan’s broader efforts to modernize border crossings and strengthen the country’s transit potential. Since the beginning of the year, the Garabogaz and Artyk customs posts have also been put into operation following comprehensive upgrades.
