President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree appointing Soyenchazar Nurnazarovich Selimov as governor of Avaza district in the city of Turkmenbashi, Balkan province, and Chairman of the Main Directorate for Management of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, Turkmen state media reported on Monday.

Dovlet Rozymyradovich Jumaev, who previously served as mayor of Avaza district and Chairman of the Main Directorate for Management of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, was relieved of his duties.

The Avaza National Tourist Zone is located near the city of Turkmenbashi in Balkan province, on Turkmenistan’s Caspian Sea coast, and is one of the country’s main resort and tourism centers. The zone features modern hotels, health and recreational complexes, cottage complexes, sports and other facilities.

In recent years, the Avaza National Tourist Zone has also hosted forums and meetings of international significance. Thus, the tourist zone is known not only as a resort center but also as one of the venues for international events.
