Construction of the International Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center in northern Ashgabat has entered its final stage. National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the facility, the THP reported.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty inspected the facility together with Fritz and Susanne Spelsberg, professors from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich’s clinic.The German specialists praised the center’s technological equipment.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Turkmenistan is preparing a new 2026-2030 framework program with the IAEA on the peaceful and safe use of isotopes in health care.
The center will include departments for radiation and functional diagnostics, radiopharmaceuticals, adult and pediatric hematology. A system for neutralizing and safely storing radioactive medical waste has been installed, receiving high marks from European experts.
The fully digital center will use artificial intelligence modules to help specialists analyze medical images and a unified network to connect all departments in real time. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the facility should also serve as an educational base for internships for Turkmen doctors and students of technology universities with leading oncologists from around the world.
National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed expanding the project to create a modern medical campus in northern Ashgabat, modeled on the health care cluster in the southern part of the capital.
The center is scheduled to open in 2026 alongside celebrations marking Turkmenistan’s Health Workers Day. An international scientific and practical conference is also planned as part of the opening.
