Turkmen President Approves Start Dates for Wheat Sowing, Cotton Harvest

President of Turkmenistan has approved September 2 as the start date for wheat sowing in the regions and September 9 for cotton harvesting, Turkmen state media reported Friday.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev reported on seasonal agricultural work in the regions during a regular Cabinet meeting held via videoconference Friday.

According to the report, plowing, leveling, ridge-making and furrow work is underway in the regions to prepare the land for next year’s wheat crop. Preparations of wheat seeders and high-quality wheat seeds for the sowing campaign are also continuing.

Care work in cotton fields is in its final stage. Preparations are also underway at cotton processing facilities and receiving stations, as well as for cotton-picking combines, vehicles and other agricultural machinery.

Addressing Cabinetof Ministers members, Head of the state noted wheat sowing and cotton harvesting are important and responsible seasons for grain and cotton farmers. He approved September 2 as the start date for wheat sowing and September 9 for cotton harvesting in the regions to ensure the agricultural campaigns are carried out in an organized manner.
