A new nitrogen fertilizer plant will be built in the Garashsyzlyk etrap of Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz velayat, with an annual production capacity of 350,000 metric tons of urea and 350,000 metric tons of ammonium nitrate. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday during a working visit to Dashoguz velayat, Turkmen state media reported.
On the same day, Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution authorizing the State Concern Türkmenhimiya to conclude a contract for construction of the plant.

The project will be implemented jointly by Turkish company GAP Inşaat, part of Çalık Holding, and German company Thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH. The production process will use Thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH technologies for manufacturing ammonia, urea and ammonium nitrate.
Natural gas will serve as the main raw material for production, with preliminary annual consumption estimated at 630 million cubic meters. The plant's electricity supply will be provided by built-in turbine generators. The project also includes technological solutions designed to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The mineral fertilizers produced at the plant will be intended to meet domestic market demand, while a significant portion of the urea is planned for export. Construction of the facility is also expected to create more than 1,000 jobs.
