Turkmen delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Iranian delegation that has arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit headed by the Chairman of Iranian-Turkmen Inter-parliamentary Group of Friendship, Member of the Energy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mr.Kurosh Karam Pur Hakygy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Tuesday, the press service of the Turkmen MFA reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current issues of bilateral cooperation including the inter-parliamentary ties, energy, transport, culture and education. Noting that Turkmenistan and Iran are strategically important partners, the guest underlined the vital role of Turkmenistan in providing regional energy security and maintaining peace.
He also added that Iran supports the status of Neutrality of Turkmenistan and intends to assist the implementation of the initiatives of our country in the framework of its neutral status.
The parties stated the availability of vast opportunities for further development of Turkmen-Iranian relations based on the principles of good neighborhood and mutual respect.
Farewell Meeting with the Ambassador of Germany in Turkmenistan
At the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan Ms. Margret Uebber whose diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan has been completed, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude to Ms. Uebber for the personal contribution in the development of Turkmen-German relations. In turn, the German diplomat noted that the work in Turkmenistan holds a special place in her diplomatic career.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of current issues including the opportunities for further widening of trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, they expressed the hope for continuation of effective work of the joint Turkmen-German Work Group on Economic Cooperation.
