President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on rendering assistance to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the economic, social and humanitarian spheres.
In accordance with the document, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan will donate products to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan specified by the document as humanitarian aid.
In order to provide constant support to Afghanistan, a program on the provision of cultural and humanitarian assistance for the years 2018-2020 was prepared between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in 2018. It includes several activities, including the construction of social buildings, shopping centers, the opening of a maternity hospital, and the sending of humanitarian aid.
Turkmenistan-funded construction of a 500-seat mosque and a railway in the Afghan village of Akina in the Andhoy region of Faryab province from there kicked off in November 2018. The event was an important indicator of the implementation of the aforementioned Program.
60 tons of ECO-93 gasoline from a newly built gas-to-gasoline plant in Ahal velayat were also sent to a neighboring country as a humanitarian aid in early July.
