Turkmen President Receives Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit on Friday.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister said that the successfully held event in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on August 12 invariably demonstrated Turkmenistan’s responsible approach to the issues of international cooperation.

“Interaction in the framework of the Caspian Economic Forum is dictated by time and it is relevant in terms of resolving important regional and global issues,” the Turkmen Leader emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the issues across the broad spectrum of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation. The head of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan stressed that the constructive interstate dialogue is based on the trustful relations between the Leaders of the two countries, who demonstrate political will to intensify multidimensional cooperation.

It was noted that the priority has been traditionally given to the economic component in the development of bilateral relations, while transport and communications sector is one of the key areas of interstate cooperation as well. 

It was emphasized that both countries attach great importance to strengthening cooperation in solving common issues of the region, including the salvation of the Aral Sea and rational water use. The fruitful nature of humanitarian cooperation was noted as well.

Afterwards, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov at the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Turkmenistan.
