Turkmen officials held a meeting with a delegation led by Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Central Asia Neil McKain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the ministry announced on Wednesday.
The new representative of the EBRD in Ashgabat Fatih Turkmenoglu also attended the meeting.
The parties noted with satisfaction the long-term nature of cooperation, reviewed ongoing projects and the EBRD Strategy for Turkmenistan for the period 2019-2024, a press release said.
The parties also exchanged views on the socio-economic situation in the region. They noted the efforts of Turkmenistan to strengthen stability and economic development, a clear example of which was the holding of the First Caspian Economic Forum in August this year, in which the EBRD Vice President particiated.
Turkmenoglu, which joined the EBRD in 2012, will oversee the implementation of the EBRD's Strategy for Turkmenistan for the period 2019-2024 adopted on July 10 this year.
EBRD has invested €272 million in Turkmenistan through 72 projects since it began operations in the country. The Bank has also provided advisory support to more than 200 small and medium-sized enterprises across Turkmenistan.
