Summit of CIS Heads of States Council under the Chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov commenced at Ashgabat’s Oguzkent hotel on Friday morning.
The council includes the leaders of Turkmenistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The CIS Leaders’ meetings will be held in two formats.
In a narrow format session of the Council of CIS Leaders, the parties discussed the issues of upcoming CIS chairmanship and the next meeting of CIS Heads of States Council.
President of Turkmenistan welcomed the event participants and wished the session success.
Turkmen President then gave word to the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Executive Secretary of CIS Sergey Lebedev, who highlighted the issues on the agenda.
Turkmen Leader noted that Lebedev’s term in office ends on December 31 and offered to address this issue during the meeting.
Currently, the meeting of Council of Heads of CIS States is underway in Oguzket hotel.
