Turkmenistan Plans to Launch Second Space Satellite
The first artificial communications satellite of Turkmenistan TürkmenÄlem 520E, with 15 year service life, successfully reached its orbital position on May 17, 2015.

Turkmenistan is working on a new artificial satellite to monitor the surface of the Earth and outer space, Deputy Prime Minister Bayramgeldy Ovezov said during the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s Wednesday working meeting with the management of industrial and communication sectors of the country.

Deputy Prime Minister added that technical conditions have been prepared for the design, construction and launch of a new artificial satellite into outer space.

Chairman of the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency Hajymyrat Hudaygulyyev informed that fiber-optic communication systems have been deployed in Ashgabat, velayats and etrap centers, and the corresponding infrastructure is ready for the transition to the digital economy.

Hudaygulyyev added that through the country's existing fiber-optic communication line, the network systems of ministries and departments are connected to the communication system.

President Berdimuhamedov said that work should be carried out to create new international fiber-optic links.

Turkmen President entrusted the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency with the task of developing a project for the building of the Single Information Center in Turkmenistan and to strengthen the material and technical base of the Cybersecurity Service of the Agency.

The artificial satellite’s data control center is located in Ahal velayat, with additional control station located in Dashoguz velayat.
