President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his working visit to Uzbekistan.
During the Thursday talks in Tashkent’s Kuksaroy Palace, the Turkmen Leader noted dynamically developing interstate relations, covering all relevant areas of political, trade, economic, humanitarian cooperation.
During the negotiations, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, the parties exchanged views on issues related to the current state of affairs and further prospects of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue in the framework of the implementation of previously reached agreements and priorities of the socio-economic development of the two states.
One of the main topics of the talks was ensuring regional security, particularly resolving the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. The Presidents noted the importance of peaceful and diplomatic means in finding a solution to these issues in the near future and reaffirmed their readiness to provide political support in this direction.
During the talks, the sides discussed the planned construction of another branch of the gas pipeline along the route Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China with an annual capacity of up to 25 billion cubic meters of gas. The readiness of Turkmenistan for joint work on the transport route Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Caspian Sea-South Caucasus with access to the Black Sea ports of Georgia, Turkey, Romania and other states was also emphasized.
The Turkmen President invited the government delegation of Uzbekistan to participate in the second UN Global Transport Conference, which will take place in Turkmenistan.
After bilateral negotiations in the conference room of the state residence, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the badge and the corresponding diploma of the title “Honorary Academician” of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
After the negotiations, a joint dinner was held at the Khiva residence.
President of Turkmenistan takes part in the second Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held at the Kuksaroy State Residence on Friday.
