Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met on Monday with several UN representatives, which arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Conference “Turkmenistan and International Organizations: Cooperation for Peace and Development”.
During a meeting with the Regional Coordinator for Central Asia of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Dmitry Godunov, the guest specifically noted the systematic approach of Turkmenistan to implementation of the tasks in the area of trade and development.
The parties made accent on three main vectors of cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UNCTAD, such as encouraging investments, modernizing the customs service, transport and logistics, as well as assistance to exploring the issues of entering the WTO.
At the end of the meeting, the parties considered the issue of Turkmenistan joining the Council of the UNCTAD on trade and development, as well as exchanged views on strengthening collaboration on wide range of multilateral partnership.
During a meeting with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Sub-regional Coordinator for Central Asia Viorel Gutu, the parties thoroughly discussed the priority vectors of cooperation with the FAO, current projects and programs in the field of assisting the agricultural development and resolution of the problems related to the global food safety.
The parties discussed proposals on the development of joint projects and programs, the successful implementation of which is expected to have a positive effect on the neighboring countries in view of the pleasant geographical location of Turkmenistan.
During another meeting with the Officer-in-Charge of United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)Tehran Cluster Office Cvetan Cvetkovski, the parties stated the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNESCO
