Turkmenistan, UNEP Mull Cooperation on Green Economy
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with the Head of the UNEP Central Asia Office Aidai Kurmanova.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the Head of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for Central Asia Office Aidai Kurmanova at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the main directions and prospects of cooperation on environmental protection, climate change, resource efficiency and the green economy.

The parties also focused on strengthening cooperation between the UNEP Central Asia Office and Turkmenistan, in particular on the implementation of joint projects in the field of achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

In an interview with the Turkmen media, Kurmanova noted that there are no borders for air, water and the environment as a whole and stressed that Turkmenistan pays great attention to these issues.

During her visit to Turkmenistan, Aidai Kurmanova held talks with the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and with the Director of the Caspian Sea Institute.
