Turkmenistan Maintains Active Cooperation With International Customs Organizations
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the work carried out within the framework of the programmme, and considered future events.

State Customs Service of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with Ketil Ottersen, senior coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Norbert Steilen, senior coordinator of the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) Container Control Programme in Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the work carried out within the framework of the programmme, and considered future events.

The State Customs Service joined the program in December 2013. As part of the program, Port Control Groups (PCGs) were created at the International Terminal of Ashgabat and at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

At the 6th interregional meeting held in Tashkent on May 22-23, 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the establishment of an Interregional network of customs services and port control groups.

The use of ContainerComm is a successful example of cooperation between the PCGs of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the last of which was in December 2019 and January 2020 on the exchange of information between the Alat seaport (Baku) and the Turkmenbashi seaport.

At the end of the meeting, the participants noted with satisfaction the results of the joint work and expressed hope for the further development and strengthening of cooperation.
