Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting on Saturday with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union in Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso, the Turkmen MFA reports on its website.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen side congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible post and expressed its readiness to assist and support the activities of the EU Delegation.
The attendees of the meeting discussed the issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union. The parties also noted the role of cooperation within the framework of international organizations and considered further steps to expand relations in various fields.
The European Union opened its Delegtion in Ashgabat in 2019.
The EU Delegation coordinates and supports activities of EU member states embassies. The Delegation also maintains and develops cooperation in wide range of fields with Turkmenistan.
