Apple Inc. reopened all 42 of its stores in China after the coronavirus outbreak forced the iPhone maker to close its shops for an extended period of time.
Since shutting the stores in February, Apple gradually reopened 38 of the 42 stores. The final four have opened their doors last Friday, according to Apple’s website.
Its suppliers have also reopened factories in China.
Apple also announced last Friday that it was closing all stores outside of China in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
In a blog post published Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the store closures were necessary to stop the spread of the virus and that the company had learned lessons from the outbreak in China.
“One of those lessons is that the most effective way to minimize risk of the virus’s transmission is to reduce density and maximize social distance. As rates of new infections continue to grow in other places, we’re taking additional steps to protect our team members and customers,” Cook wrote in the blog post.
Apple had warned in mid-February that it would not meet its March revenue guidance due to the store closures, and production slowdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak in China.
