Turkmen, Uzbek Presidents Discuss Epidemiological Situation in Border Areas

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday.

According to the statement on Uzbek President’s official website, the Leaders discussed relevant aspects of cooperation between the two nations, including the urgent measures taken in the countries to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection.

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the activities of relevant agencies and organizations in providing mutual practical assistance and monitoring the epidemiological situation, especially in the border areas.

The sides paid particular attention to the importance of continuing joint measures to minimize negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic on bilateral relations in trade, economic, energy, transport, communications, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The Leaders expressed confidence that the joint actions will help cope with arising difficulties and challenges, and will make friendly ties, good neighborliness, strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan even stronger.

The Presidents also exchanged views on regional cooperation and international issues.
