President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated in an extraordinary summit of the Turkic Council held in a videoconference format.
The Summit, initiated by President of Azerbaijan, brought together the presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister of Hungary, Secretary General of the Turkic Council and the WHO Director General.
In the Summit, the sides exchanged views on the measures taken at the national level to combat the coronavirus epidemic, multilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare, and addressed the common challenges caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 in the region.
Turkmen President said the humanity faces a new, extremely serious challenge, encompassing vast geographical area and affecting the lives of many states and peoples.
The Turkmen Leader noted the necessity to work out coordinated steps to successfully counter the threat, and expressed confidence that, in the current difficult conditions, the Turkic-speaking nations should show their best qualities - humanism, mutual support and solidarity.
Today, we need special responsibility, deliberation and foresight when making decisions, the Turkmen Leader said and called on to rely on achieving results only through joint efforts.
President Berdimuhamedov said the exchange of experience and knowledge in the fight against coronavirus, the development of new methods of treatment and prevention of dangerous infectious diseases, the creation of modern medicines, and the introduction of new technologies are of particular value in the current difficult conditions.
