Representatives of State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Thursday attended the virtual meeting of the 135th/136th Sessions of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council.
According to the Turkmen Customs Service's statement, the meeting participants discussed the amendments to the 2022 version of Harmonized System of Designation and Codification of Goods, financial issues and issues of budget approval for 2020–2021 period. The next Council in-person session is scheduled to take place in December 2020.
Turkmenistan has been a member of the World Customs Organization since May 17, 1993, the date of accession to the Convention on the establishment of the Customs Cooperation Council.
State Customs Service of Turkmenistan was formed in November 1991 and since 1993 is a member of the World Customs Organization. Today, the State Customs Service operates six customs administrations and 51 customs posts.
In April this year, 21 Turkmen customs officials attended the virtual meeting, with the participation of WCO experts, on accession of Turkmenistan to the International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of Customs procedures (as amended), known as the Revised Kyoto Convention.
